Product Description: Its christmas eve on sesame street and everyone is joining in the excitement until a question from oscar throws big bird into a tailspin. How does a guy like santa claus whos built like a dump truck come down all those skinny little chimneys? Studio: Genius Products Inc Release Date: 11/14/2006 Run time: 60 minutes Rating: Nr
Amazon.com: This Emmy Award-winning musical from 1978 explores an age-old Christmas conundrum: how does a big guy like Santa Claus squeeze down all those narrow chimneys? When Big Bird and his Sesame Street friends set out to find the answer one Christmas Eve, they explore a variety of amusing theories and learn a lot about the meaning of Christmas in the process. You won't want to miss seeing all your favorite Sesame Street characters as they take to the ice at a nearby skating rink. Perhaps the most enjoyable feature of all is the wealth of wonderful music--everything from traditional Christmas songs to the now famous "Keep Christmas with You" by Joe Raposo. Several numbers are signed in American Sign Language and there's even a brief mention of Hanukkah. This 60-minute, classic Sesame Street special, which teaches kids from 2 to 10 to value giving more than receiving and stresses the importance of love and togetherness, is also thoroughly entertaining. --Tami Horiuchi

Best video ever! My daughters favorite since they were little and they are now all over 18!

I remember a day when there was no furry little red creature that had to hog all the attention on a show called Sesame Street. Ah, the days before Elmo, when Sesame Street was truly an ensemble cast.
I loved watching this movie when it was simply another episode of Seasame Street in the mid 80s. This was done in the true Hey-Day of the series, when it hadn't been recast in a politically correct typecast of a former child's show, when Elmo became the main category. Honestly, the death of Henson was the true deadzone for the show, but I digress.
Another rant, when I read another reviewer complained about how grouchy Oscar was....again, it just reminded me how watered down Sesame Street and society has become. Oscar, the Grouch, was known for being grouchy and mean and cynical. He was the perfect antithesis to Big Bird, a bright overly optimistic bigger than life character on the series. Oscar's cynicism taught children how to behave by NOT being mean and grouchy to others. Believe it or not. We didn't call people "stupid" because a green puppet did, we called people stupid because they either a) were or b) We heard/saw our parents doing it, and those are the ones we mimic, not television characters.
Anyhoo, like the Christmas Gift, Christmas Eve on Sesame Street is a Holiday Classic along the vein of Rudolph, Frosty, and the animated version of the Grinch. I remember rooting along with Big Bird that Santa Claus really did exist, ... Read More

I am the mom of a 7 year old who has a form of autism. Her language is imparted but one thing that she does is sing along the Sesame street cast on "True Blue Miracle" which definately one for us. This video teaches wonderful lessons not just for use at Christmas time but all year long like friendship and true selflessness (bert and ernie). It is also realistic in the sense that we all know the world is full of Oscar the grouches and this in a wondeful way to introduce a theme that no parent wants to get into with their child but that is life. I enjoy this video myself because you see all the sesame street characters (though not the newer ones) unlike the more recent Sesame Street Chirstmas videos that are all Elmo, not that I have anything against ole' Elmo but there are other sesame street characters. Anyway this is wonderful video for the holidays.

Being an international customer I was expecting the product to take a while to arrive but to my surprise it arrived sooner then expected, and in perfect condition, so very happy.

Nice DVD with the exception that Oscar is SUPER negative, even calling Big Bird "stupid". My two year old son loves this DVD. I figure if he says stupid it will give me the opportunity to explain to him that we don't use that word in our family. Otherwise, it's a nice old school sesame street DVD.
