Producers David Shore, Bryan Singer, Katie Jacobs, and Paul Attanasio haven't rewritten the hospital drama--at heart, it's a cross between St. Elsewhere, ER, and C.S.I.--but they've infused a moribund genre with new life and created one of TV's most compelling characters. More than any previous medical procedural, it resembles Attanasio’s underrated Gideon's Crossing, but House is lighter on its feet. As fascinating as he is, the show wouldn't work as well if it were all House all the time (that would be like Sherlock Holmes without Watson or Moriarty). Fortunately, he's joined by an intriguing cast of characters, portrayed by a combination of experienced vets (Omar Epps, Lisa Edelstein, Tony winner Robert Sean Leonard) and new faces (Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer). In addition, Chi McBride and Sela Ward appear frequently (with Ward returning for the second season). Viewers who first watched these 22 episodes on Fox will be gratified to note that the music has survived the transition to disc, such as the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want," as featured in both the pilot and season finale ("Honeymoon"). I'm happy to watch these DVDs because I enjoy the show immensely, but I've reduced my rating in protest of what I call BSWidescreen, where they have delivered a letterboxed 4:3 image rather than an anamorphic widescreen disc. To label the product "widescreen" is BS and a ripoff. Sure, we can fill our screen up by using the ZOOM mode, but then we are watching a lower resolution picture and the top and bottom picture clipping will be imperfect on some TVs. Too bad, since the show is otherwise good.

Season One, House introduces you to this doctor who is in "left field" accourding to standands. He is intense and devoted to his work though his work ethics at time are quiestionable. His co-workers love, hate, admire, and highly respect him as you will. I dare you to watch this and not fall in love with 'House, M.D.' and want more.

Since I had never seen the first season of this sitcom, purchasing this CD helped me catch up on what I had missed. It is more enjoyable watching this CD without commercial interuptions.
I would recommend this CD to any House fans.
It will be a joy to review this series in future years.
A great way to catch up on shows that were missed.
