we started watching it when he was around 9 months while i carried him and danced along. if i put him on the ground he would crawl away. but now at 11 months he just loves it, he will sit on my lap while watching it and clap along or he would dance around to the tunes. its really cute . i think seeing the babies with their mums and dads made him notice books more, they never really grabbed his attention before, but now as soon as he sees one of my parents magazines with baby pictures on them he will scan the page , kiss the baby and try to turn the page. so i bought him a few books with baby pictures in them and he really spends time looking at them.

We received the first Mommy and Me dvd as a gift from my sister. She raved about it ever since her daughter (our niece) was born. They both loved the music and the ability to spend quality time together all the while watching a video. We have one and a half year old triplets boys who absolutely LOVE both dvds!!! They actually ask for them to be played!!! The adults present (myself and my husband included) feel that the music and people are a little hokey at times, but who cares?! As long as our little ones are learning and having fun, it's worth it...and we even find ourselves singing and dancing right along- what can we say, it's catchy! Our boys know which song is coming on next, they do many of the hand movements and dances to the songs, and yes, we have props, as well! (straw hats, instruments, and anything else that can help get them more involved). I must say, if you have a toddler, then these dvds are for you! We play them in the car on long drives, at home, and we've even brought it to a party to share with our friends and their children. Our niece is 4 now and still likes to watch and sing and dance along with her cousins. Mommy and Me is quite a big hit-see for yourself-I'm sure you'll agree! Enjoy:)

My children abosulutely adore this DVD. They like the animation with the kangaroo (Little Jay), his mommy and the other animals and things, they like the music, they like the dancing and movement. It is fabulous. They have liked this since my daughter was 2 years old and my son was 4 months. My daughter is now nearly 3 and a half years old and she still requests to watch "Mommy and Me" as her brother gets ready for nap time. My son had a hard time with sleep training and would wake up screaming. My husband and I would have him watch "Mommy and Me" and it would help soothe him down for bed. To our family, this DVD is worth much, much more than it's weight in gold.
The popular children songs included on this DVD are..."A Sailor Went to Sea", "B-I-N-G-O", "The Wheels on the Bus", "Skip To My Lou", "The Grand O'le Duke of York", "I've Been Work'in on the Railroad", "William Tell Overture", "She'll be Com'in Around the Mountain", "This is the Way We Wash Our Hair", "The Eensy Weensy Spider" and some signature, "Mommy and Me" songs, etc.
If your children like music, a little animation and some dancing around, this is the DVD for you. (also check out "Mommy and Me" More Playgroup Favorites, the sequel to this one). This DVD is actually one that I can stand to watch too. The music is fun and the vocalists are not bad. It is much better than most children's music DVDs or CDs that are out on the market.

Although the skits between songs are hokey, the songs themselves and the format are fantastic. My oldest is almost 6 and still loves to imitate the dances on screen. My youngest is 17 months and has been following along and copying what she sees on screen for several months now. Good video.

I'm the mommy of twin 19 month old boys and they enjoy the Mommy & Me Playgroup Favorites DVDs. They don't really like tv which isn't the result of anything I've done or not done, they're just always moving and won't stay still long enough to notice most things on tv. However, they love to dance along with the songs on this DVD.
I spent a small fortune on 8 Baby Einstein DVDs and have been trying repeatedly for the past 14 months to get the boys interested in them. They could care less about those but they fell instantly in love with the Baby Genius Nursery Rhymes DVD the first time I put it in (they were 13 months old at the time)Baby Genius Favorite Nursery Rhymes w/bonus Music CD They love all 3 of the Baby Genius "song" DVDs but there's only so many times I can listen to the same songs so I searched for some other good DVDs with songs.
As an adult I find the visuals of this DVD cheesy but my boys love the overdone happy faces and exaggerated movements of the parents & kids. They love to dance around with the songs and try to copy the dance movements that go with each song.
If your little one loves to dance and sing this DVD is a good choice at a great price!
