This is one of the golden oldies. A classic in every way. To this day the first track of Steven's arrangement of the Midsummer Night's Dream nocturne can move me to joyous tears during plies.

This recording is sure to bring a smile to students of any age. I LOVED "giselle's last tango" and the petit allegro is bouncy and full of fun. I also adore the arrangement of "gymnopedies 1" - the real thing is actually quite difficult to use in class because of all the rallentandos.
All the musical intros are clear and there's plenty of music for when you need to work in groups or one line at a time. This is going to be a favourite of mine!

If you've taught for as long as I have, you are familiar with the phenomenon of lying awake at night, being mentally assaulted by the repetitive ballet music you've heard throughout your afternoon of teaching. You can only listen to so much Lynn Stanford, innovative as he is. And I personally get tired of the jazzy music so often used now for the more upbeat tempos. The Covent Garden class is really refreshing in terms of classic favorites being re-framed for appropriate phrasing and rhythm. The tracks are all long enough -- a rarity, it seems -- and the jumps and pirouettes are just right. There's a really fun tango for pirouettes with a strong downbeat; the plie and ronde de jambe are sweet without being schmaltzy; and there are some interesting syncopations and time signatures to play with. It's so much better than what is available on i-tunes, and a nice counterpoint to Josu Gallestegui and Lynn Stanford. I really try hard not to desensitize my students to good music by using the same old mediocre records all the time -- this is a good one!

This cd was purchased for my daughter, a classically trained ballerina. She teaches
ballet and is using this cd for her classes. It is excellent for this purpose with
variety in tempo and mood.

I love Steven's music to teach with and carry his CDs with me wherever I teach, and this new one is marvellous. Sometimes I arrive to teach an audition in a new city and find that there is no accompanist. I always thank heaven that I have Steven's DCs with me. His choices, tempos and wonderful technique make me want to dance on and on! And I particularly love the new Convent Garden CD. Thanks Steven your music is marvellous.
