Editorial Review:
Description: Go on a fun and exciting journey of land, sea and space filled with vivid animal footage, imaginative toys and incredible space photography! Featuring classical melodies performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, this video will become one of your child's fond favorites! Winner of Parents Magaine's Video of the Year Award. DVDs include FREE audio CD of the classical music from the program. DVDs feature auto-start and auto-repeat (kid friendly functions) and parent's guide
Amazon.com: Created in consultation with child development and infant-learning experts, Baby Superstar: Explorer blends classical music, animation, and live-action photography in an appealing program that facilitates sensory, language, emotional, and cognitive development in children ages 3 to 36 months. Explorer focuses on land, sea, and space; juxtaposing footage of stuffed animals, toys in action, animation, live animals in natural settings, authentic space shuttle launches, and real space photography. Rich classical music like Handel's Water Music and Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, accompanies the visual images. Baby Superstar presentations are similar to Baby Einstein programs in that both combine animation, toys, and classical music. What makes Baby Superstar different, and infinitely more appealing to adult viewers, is the real-life photography and the use of full orchestral renditions of the classical music rather than the synthesized, heavily stylized arrangements presented by Baby Einstein. The DVD includes an audio compact disc of the musical selections as well as a parent guide that features video of psychologist Joyce Brothers and pediatrician David Namerow offering advice on topics like stimulating brain development, separation anxiety, and common physical ailments in infants. Twenty percent of Baby Superstar's profits will be donated to children's charities. --Tami Horiuchi

Based on a "Land, Sea, Space" theme, this is a wonderful DVD with footage of wild animals, fish and astronauts, etc. interspersed with "animation" shots of the corresponding toy animals/space ships, etc. All of it is set to classical music which my daughter absolutely loves! I highly recommend this DVD and the related Baby Superstar DVDs. They're more entertaining than the Baby Einstein DVDs for my daughter.

We own about a dozen videos for infants, and this is my daughter's favorite. It seems like she wants to watch Explorer everyday. The music and animals are her favorite parts. To me it seems like the highest production quality of any child video (much better than Baby Eisnstein). We also listen to the classical music CD in the car. I was surprised that it was free with the DVD (A great bonus). I would definately recommend this DVD for any child.

I bought this video thinking my son would like it as much as he likes Baby Bach and Baby Mozart (which he's been watching avidly since he was 2 monthes old). I popped it in and he could have cared less. He's watch Baby Mozart for two hours if I'd let him, but this video couldn't hold his attention for two minutes.
He first watched it at 5 monthes, so I though perhaps it was his age, but I pulled it out at 7 and 9 monthes and again, he could care less.

My baby loves it. Just seeing him focused on the TV with his big blue eyes is a beautiful sight. The Dvd works like a babysitter when we need 30 minutes alone and get stuff done around the house. Every parent knows how important that 30 minute break is and this Dvd definitely gives us that.

I think the space exploration piece towards the end of the dvd is a really smart way to get a childs young mind to begin growing and learning at such a young age. The video covers the different animals on land, in the water, in the air, and then finishes with the solar system and space exploration. The explorer dvd is very well thought out, and I would refer any parent to the explorer video and the other baby superstar videos if they're looking for something fun and educational for a young one.
