Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo and Charlie Manson host two touching holiday episodes: with them and your favorite South Park characters you'll rediscover what Christmas is really all about. First, sing along with "Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classic," a hilarious collection of carols--including Kyle and his family doing a particularly irreverent, a cappella version of "Dreidl Dreidl Dreidl," and there's nothing like Satan's "Christmastime in Hell"--surprising who you'll see down there. And Mr. Hankey definitely leaves his mark on his finale, too. The next episode is "Merry Christmas, Charlie Manson": Stan joins a trip to Cartman's grandma's house where the Cartmans are happily surprised that Uncle Howard is able to show up, having broken out of jail with his cellmate Charlie Manson.
The tape has a bonus third program: the "outrageous British documentary" Goin' Down to South Park, a half-serious, half-tongue-in-cheek look at the creators and production crew who animate South Park. Trey Parker and Matt Stone, from their hot tub, discuss the origin of South Park and how the merchandising, money, and fame have made their lives so much easier. --Erik Macki

First off I think that the first South Park Christmas special (the first episode where Kenny didn't die) is the funniest Christmas special in TV history. But the first episode "Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics" is very close. This alone is 5 stars. From the very well done "Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel"(eventual 5 part harmony) to Hitler singing a familiar Christmas carol in German while in Hell, to the very politically incorrect song by Mr.Garrison "Merry F**kng Christmas", there are plenty of laughs. But the absolute highlight is a lounge act featuring Jesus and Santa doing Christmas songs (in the first person). The sight of Jesus taling his halo and swirling it around his finger and flipping it back over his head is woth theprice on admission. The second episode "merry Christmas Charlie Manson" is not as good but definitley has its moments

If you thought Satan and Saddam Hussein getting it on in the South Park movie was histerical, as I did, then you will laugh until you cry at "Christmas Time in Hell" on this DVD.
The Prince of Darkness leads a Chorus of famous dead peope including Princess Di, Micheal Landon, Jeffrey Dhalmer, JFK, JFK jr., and Attila the Hun in singing such hilarious lines as "Everybody has a happy glow, Let's dance in blood and pretend its snow, Even Mao Tse-Tung is under the spell, It's Christmas time in hell!"
The Charlie Manson episode has some funny moments. The Chinpoko thing is OK
Many of the Christmas songs are funny, but the ones in the original episodes are better. That's why the 4 instead of five.

Before adding this to your cart or wish list, I have to warn you that some may be very unsatisfied with this collection of Christmas episodes. In other words, I rented this, and I just couldn't enjoy it. Christmas specials were never a strong suit for South Park. "Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics" is probably the WORST South Park episode ever to air. Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo hosts a Christmas show with parody songs and scenes with the regular South Park Characters. That's about it. Hankey is annoying as ever, the songs and musical scenes are TERRIBLE., the episode is pointless, and if not for the second one on the DVD, "Merry Christmas Charlie Manson", this collection would be nothing more than a worthless piece of cr*p more so than Hankey himself. Fortunately though, this does include "Merry Christmas Charlie Manson" which will mildly amuse some South Park viewers whether or not they've seen it. The episode Chinpokomon which makes fun of the infamous franchise is just annoying. You might like it the first time around, but if you buy it, it'll just get more and more mindless and stupid. I know this from my own experience. These episodes do NOT satisfy. If you STILL get a kick out of this show after all these years, that's fine. This one isn't worth it, but you've seen good reviews here too, so buy at your own risk.

Charles Manson finding self-redemption? The kids trying to keep up with the Joneses on the latest, hottest fad? A bowel movement hosting a Christmas special featuring singing by most of the `South Park' core characters? Could it be possible...?
No, probably not. But, then again, `South Park' has never been accused of being rooted in reality, except for when it comes to taking shots at the world's real-life absurdities. And with this release, one of the latest and greatest fads- the Pokemon craze- gets taken down hard. In `ChinPokomon' the crass commercialism, selfishness, and even the seizure-inducing properties of this unbelievable pop-culture trend gets its just desserts. And being someone who's worked in the retail toys and collectibles business, I've seen the effects of such fads first-hand. I loved the Japanese ChinPokomon execs' strategy of buttering up the American male ego by praising their-um, prowess `down south', if you catch my drift-to divert parents' concerns about what the craze is doing to their kids. Those shrewd and efficient business tacticians from the Land of the Rising Sun knew exactly where to hit us!
Then There's "Merry Christmas Charlie Manson", with the kids celebrating the Holidays with the Cartman clan. With the exception of Eric's mom, every Cartman is "big-boned", and have those distinctive accents. Manson's busted out with Eric's uncle from the klink, and as the episode plays, he makes the gradual change from the mad hellspawn ... Read More
