Amazon.com: Elvis Presley's seventh film was the first of his "Hawaii trilogy" (including Girls! Girls! Girls! and Paradise, Hawaiian Style). While its story is daft--the King has just been released from his Army posting in Italy and returned to the islands, where he's trying to avoid working in his father's fruit business--the music is not: "Blue Hawaii," "Almost Always True," and the beautiful "Can't Help Falling in Love." Angela Lansbury plays Elvis's mother, who can't seem to get through to him. Directed by the star's frequent collaborator, Norman Taurog (G.I. Blues). --Tom Keogh

Fabulous nostalgia! Too bad the Coco Palms Resort was never re-built after Iniki. I had chills walking around at the Resort - Elvis' ghost was everywhere!

This is one of my favorite Elvis movies. I love everything about it, but my number one favorite thing about this movie is Elvis. He lights up the screen and when he sings "Can't Help Falling In Love With You" I melt. This along with Jailhouse Rock, Viva Las Vegas, and Live a Little Love a Little are 4 great Elvis movies to own.

This is the must have Elvis movie for any Elvis fan. My dad got me hooked on Elvis movies as a kid, and this is the favorite. If you are looking to purchase one for yourself or a friend and just starting a collection, start with this one. It will not disappoint.
I actually purchased this copy as an x-mas gift for my cousins daughter (who at the age of 9 is an avid Elvis fan) and within 3 days she was quoting the movie. She absolutely loved it:)

This was the film with which Hal Wallis financed his most prestigous film 'Becket' with Burton and O'Toole. This fact was not lost on Elvis who always harbored serious acting ambitions but seldom if ever had the oppportunity. Needless to say, he did the best he could with what he had. As Chad, he struggles to break free of his parents' world of entitlement and strikes out on his own. In doing so, he rebels against the social conventions of his class and race embracing the indigenous culture and it's people. He is never less than convincing in the role and always projects his unique magnetism. The production values are the highest of any of his 'travelogue' films with a cast that includes the wonderful Angela Lansbury as his smothering, class and race conscious Southern mother. The ballad songs are arguably the best in any post-army film, and reflect the lush, Polynesian setting. For me this film was a childhood escape to the Aloha state which greatly helped its tourism industry.
