Product Description:
In the first novella by the New York Times bestselling author of the Reverend Curtis Black series, a wife and a husband receive a surprise that will change their lives forever
Kennedi Mason thinks she's the luckiest woman on earth. She loves her job, she has a wonderful best friend, and she's been married for ten years to her soul mate. There's nothing she can think of that could make her life any better.
Then one fateful day Kennedi receives a piece of news that will turn her world upside down. She's excited about it, and she knows that her husband, Blake, will be over the moon. He has always dreamed of this one thing happening, and she can't wait until he comes home so she can tell him.
But when she sees Blake that evening, he has a special announcement of his own. It shocks Kennedi into silence and wipes the admission she was planning to make right out of her mind. In an instant, her life and her marriage have changed, but not at all in the way that she had expected.
A poignant and satisfying story of hope, Kimberla Lawson Roby's One in a Million beautifully shows us the difference between what we think we want and what we actually need to be truly happy.

Kimberla Lawson Roby's so far has not failed to impress and entertain me. ONE IN A MILLION is a fast-paced novel that keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you wondering what is going to happen next.
In the first paragraph, I was so sure that I knew what good news that Kennedi Mason was going to tell her "beloved" husband that I actually smiled. What shock to find out that the actual news is not at all what is expected.
I am the queen of wanting to see evil people get theirs. The virtual queen of getting back at ya! So when a writer comes across with the type of comeuppance that Miss Lawson does, I am truly a happy reader.
I love Kimberla's writing because we know there are people out there who act just like this. Money makes distant relatives and snakes come out of the woodwork and I was anxious to see how Kennedi was going to handle her business.
While I celebrated Kennedi's success I'm still not sure that I would have been so magnanimous to her aunt so fast.
One in a Million is a quick, enjoyable novel and I highly recommend it

The premise of this book was excellent. Definitely a story that I could see being played out in a movie on Lifetime or Oxygen. The basics of the story is this - a woman (Kennedy Mason) awaits her husband's return home so that she can tell him some fantastic news! The only problem is, he has news of his own and from the moment he tells her, her life will never be the same!
From the time you start reading you can feel the build up of mystery within this book. What does she have to tell him? Why can't he be reached? Then when he gets home, that's when the ride begins. It's tragic but entertaining. Thought provoking and poignant as you start to actually feel what Kennedy feels. Unfortunately the one thing that people will notice is that the book may start to become a bit preachy and that the author's description of Kennedy's prim and proper yet naïve ways are a bit too much but I think that was her way of trying to play up just how undeserving Kennedy was of her fate. However, there really was no need to do this. Trust me when I say that Kennedy's situation is so messed up yet complicated that this fact alone guarantees that we would feel sorry for her!
One of the more hilarious parts of this story comes in when the author shows just what can happen to a person's life when they come into a windfall (what kind of windfall, I'm not saying ;-) ). I swear the author must have done research on how people act when they know that someone has just come into a ... Read More

I thought this novel was kinda of boring. It started off interesting in the beginning and after that it went down hill. I'm still a fan of Ms. Roby but lately her storytelling has lacked that certain something. Here's hoping that she'll improve.

Uninteresting and not much of a story. This book was just plain dull and 'sooooo' boring. The plot was too phony and unrealistic -- totally unbelievable. Kimberla Lawson Roby threw this book together and didn't spend much time and effort to put some depth into the story line. Don't waste your money or time on this book -- it's awful! Sorry Kimberla, but as one of your biggest fans, I didn't enjoy this book!

Protagonist Kennedi opens the book with a huge and wonderful secret to tell her husband....but he has one to spill also, and thankfully spills his first. What Blake tells his wife is surely the shock of her life...and Kennedi is left reeling. Tough to review this story well without "spoilers," so I will simply say that to me the story was slow and rather predictable...although the surprise itself certainly was not. I found myself turning pages, anxious for the story to end; and while it had its dramatic moments, I would certainly not call it a pageturner from a suspense or "can't wait to see what happens next," perspective.
3 stars from me, as I thought the premise of the story itself was somewhat of a novely...and it did pick up towards the end. Altogether, I found it too pricey for the length and quality. Check this one out of the library.
